Great book for sinus sufferers
This book opened my eyes to a whole new world of information. Most important to me was the sinus washing ,it opens up your sinuses like when you were a baby.Sinus washing should be part of ones daily hygeine. I truly beleive that if I knew about washing 15 years ago I wouldn't have has surgury twice.

Terrible book and even worse Doctor
during my visit, he told me to buy this book.
The book didn't really get to the root of my sinus issues. It seems to always say to go to an ENT and you might need surgery
352 pages later and several Dr visits with DR Josephson and I was still having sinus issues.
I have had a sinus surgery from Dr. Yosef Krespi and went 5 years without being sick. I started getting my seasonal sinus infections in the fall so I decided try Dr Josephson. I bought his book and had several visits. He seemed to push the sinus surgery. After the surgery I had 2 uncontrollable bloody noses at my desk within the first month. I have had 2 sinus infections in a 5 month period of surgery. I am now back with my original ENT, Dr. Yosef Krespi, and feel a lot better. Besides the unsatisfactory results, I was stuck with 3k in bills since he went way over the fair and reasonable which insurance was not taking care of. The worst thing is I told him that I had a knee surgery that year and hit my maximum deductible and I didn't want to pay anymore money for health care. Every Dr that I have used took the fare and reasonable, except for him. Even though I was very clear and told him I didn't want to pay anymore for health care. What was incredibly annoying was that is lack of comparison for these unexpected expanses on my behalf. He didn't even seem to feel bad about the confusion. Then when I asked him for out of my pocket money spent, he said he had to pay for his braces. I feel like we were on two different worlds. First of all, everyone has to pay for braces. Plus he got a quote. I didn't get one. He just expected me to pay anything he put on a bill. On top of that he said that he is required to collect this and wanted me to get a letter from the insurance company saying that I don't have to pay the full amount on his bill. trying to recoup some of that money, I called the insurance company. They were completely confused by this since there is no contract with him and them. Basically telling me he was not obligated to collect the full or any. For some reason this did not satisfy him. I had
Reason why he is a bad Dr
1) He doesn't listen or pay attention - When we were figuring out when we were having surgery I told him that I hit my maximum deductible and wanted to take advantage of that. Since I was a surfer, I wanted to wait until hurricane season was done which is Dec 3. Coming closer to surgery he told me that after the surgery he needed to do scraping for 2 months. That would mean it would go to the next year and new deductibles would have to be meet. I told him my goal for 2010 was not pay anything. If I knew that I would have done it in October.
Also he consistently asked when my surgery was and what medications HE put me on.
2) Lack of trust
3) Total disregard for other peoples money - As stated above, he didn't seem to care that I was under the impression that my bill was taken care of since I meet the max deductible. We had several conversations about money but the one thing he failed to tell me was that I was responsible for the difference between fair and his bill.
4) Seemed like an amateur - Day of surgery he was at the nurses station asking them if they had some piece of equipment.
5) Wasting my busy personal time
6) Personal Distress - Instead of worrying about my recovery, I was concerned with the above things. He claimed it was insurance, but it was him. When I do business, I dont make my problems the clients problem. He should do the same. Every business has it's obstacles, so that is why you go to a professional, to avoid those
Don't waste your time with this book or Doctor. I am sure all the 4 and 5 stars are from friends and Family.
A Tremendous Help for your Sinuses!
As a long-time sufferer of chronic sinusitis (7 years), I've spent the last three years in and out of doctors and specialists trying to rectify the situation. There's a saying that to defeat your enemy, you must know them which is why I picked up Dr. Josephson's book. It's truly a relief as he describes a lot of the insidious aches, pains and embarrasments a sinus-sufferer goes through, makes you feel as if you're not alone. The book not only provides empathy and support but a tremendous amount of physiological information for you to understand your illness. The quiz and treatment plan then gives you several ways and a multitude of treatments to manage the issue given sinus problems are often life-long.
While I only got a lot of value from about half the book, it was only because of the serious amount of research and doctors I've been through over the last three years. For newly discovered sinus sufferers, this book may be eye-opening and a true life-saver that will short-cut you to the necessary treatment plan more quickly. The wealth of information, while a bit slow at times, is really necessary for the patient to work with your primary care physician or specialist to alleviate the situation. And that's probably one of the best points made by Dr. Josephson. Without a informed and knowledgeable patient, even the best doctor's will have some challenges making the correct diagnosis. If you have sinus issues, buy this book to give you and your MD the best chances at bringing you back to full health and happiness! Best of luck to you all...
good
Book goes over the myriad causes of sinuse congestion. Best book I have found on the subject. Maybe it is a little confusing about what to do with all the information provided, but It was useful in talking with my doctor. I would recommend it.
Long on Anatomy, short on What do to
This book was recomended by Seth Godin, the marketing guru, and I love his work so I bought it. I could not get through the whole thing because the first 70 pages goes into immense detail about the anatomy of the sinuses to the point where no one would care and most of the rest of the chapters did not apply to me (e.g. special cases, morbidly obese, etc.) There is some helpful information about irrigating your sinuses, which I am now doing, but the book could have been 200 pages shorter and I would have gotten just as much out of it.
