Buchu is a low shrub native to the Cape region of South Africa. The dried leaves are harvested and an essential oil is obtained by steam distillation. The two primary species of Buchu used commercially are Agathosma betulina (syn. Barosma betulina) and Agathosma crenulata (syn. Barosma crenultata). Raised on Rooibos
I'm an expat South African. Afrikaner, raised on Rooibos. Our children drink Rooibos instead of soda, its great for invalids, the elderly, insomnia, tension, add a slice of lemon and some honey and its a cold remedy. If you HAVE to drink iced tea, make it rooibos!
Buchu is a tried and trusted home remedy. It also works very well as a soothing poultice on a sprained joint.
