Customer Reviews:
Because I have to use
I have not got a wide range of experience with these to judge them. It was cheaper and we went with it. Shortly before my back surgery after four months bed-ridden in terrific pain with the loss of walking, I developed high blood sugar. The net result of years unable to really walk and move with multiple back issues. Weight gain, craving carbs. It was a shock. Now I'm adjusted to using this and find it pretty easy altho the drug store charged me over a hundred for test strips much cheaper here.
Basically the kit came with what I needed to get going. You get a key from the test strips, prick your sore fingers, test, results displayed in seconds. So far it's working fine. I've controlled the issue and in nine weeks lost ten pounds and achieved a start towards feeling better. I'd buy this again.
My daughter tells me implants under the skin are coming to give a regular reading. The cool thing about a scientist daughter is that you are well considered as she thinks about her future. I can tell you she's who read and set this up for me...and it wasn't hard. A little set of tips:
1) don't test when you are rushing...try to calm, otherwise you drop something
2) wait the two hours after a meal
3) be sure you put the test key in
4) prick finger first, put in test strip
5) WAIT for the little ding, then lightly put the blood just above the strip
6) re-test if the number seems imppossible
WASH up after, it is blood.
Good
Now you can help make every test strip count -- by testing right the first time.Right technology:A wide-mouth strip quickly attracts and absorbs a tiny blood drop, helping 97% of testers fill on the very first try,1 so you can avoid painful retesting. In addition, the system has over 150 automatic checks to detect and prevent unreliable results. The least-painful lancet device:The ACCU-CHEK Multiclix lancet device is proven least painful among leading lancet devices.Test from your fingertip or other sites:Test from your fingertip, palm, forearm, upper arm, thigh, or calf.
does what it is supposed to do
This is the first time I bought a glucose meter, so I dont have anything else to compare this against. I bought this also because the test strips were more affordable than some of the other units I saw at Wal greens. I bought this and Accu-Chek Roche Aviva 50 Count (Mail Order) from here amazon.com
The unit is easy to use, and the measurements are repeatable. There is a sort of "calibration" you need to perform every time you are opening up a "new pack" of strips. I thought that was a nuisance, but then I can understand why it is required (I think this is common for all meters)
Overall, I should say I am pleased with the purchase.
